Who this policy covers

This page covers Hectare Brief at hectarebrief.com and its crop publications: Almond Brief (almondbrief.com); Pistachio Brief (pistachiobrief.com); Citrus Brief (citrusbrief.com). Hectare Brief is published by Verdus Labs, Inc. References to “we,” “us” and “our” mean the publisher of these sites.

You can read our public articles without creating an account. This policy explains how information is handled when you read a publication, join a newsletter list, contact us or use an optional article question.

Information we collect

• Newsletter signups. Your email address, the publication you subscribe to, when and where you signed up, an article reference when relevant, and referral or campaign details such as a referring page or newsletter campaign.
• Reading and technical activity. Pages and articles viewed, clicks, reading progress, return visits, browser and device information, and cookie or browser-storage identifiers. Our hosting and security providers may process request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the sites.
• Messages you send us. Your email address and the information you include when you contact the publication.
• Optional article questions. The question you choose or enter, any details you include, the referenced article and the conversation needed to answer it. Avoid including information you do not want an answer provider to process.

How we use information

We use this information to provide the publications, manage the lists you choose, respond to messages and article questions, understand which coverage is useful, improve the reading experience, and prevent abuse or technical problems.

A crop newsletter signup is recorded for that publication. It does not automatically subscribe you to every crop list. We do not publish subscriber email addresses or sell subscriber lists.

Service providers and optional questions

We use service providers for hosting, content delivery, security, database storage and analytics. Supabase stores newsletter signup records. PostHog helps us understand how the publications are used. These providers process the information needed to perform their services.

If you use an article question, our answer service processes the question and article context. AI and search providers, including OpenRouter and Exa, may receive the question or a related search query to produce an answer. Continuing to a separate signed-in service is optional and is also subject to that service’s privacy policy; it does not create a Hectare Brief newsletter subscription.

We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the publications, readers or others. Cloud providers may process information outside your state or country.

Cookies, analytics and session replay

The sites use cookies and browser storage to recognize repeat visits, remember dismissed prompts and question-trial usage, and measure publication activity. Analytics may include page interactions, heatmaps and session replay, which reconstructs interactions with the webpage.

Our session-replay configuration masks form inputs and the embedded chat area. We do not intentionally include email addresses or question text in publication analytics events. This does not prevent the newsletter database from storing your signup or the answer service from processing a question you submit.

You can use your browser’s controls to block or clear cookies and site storage. This may reset remembered choices or affect site features. The publications do not currently change analytics settings in response to a browser’s Do Not Track signal.

Your choices and requests

To remove a newsletter signup, stop receiving a publication, correct your email address, or request access to or deletion of information associated with you, contact [email protected]. Include the publication and the email address involved. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information. Contact us to exercise a right or ask a question. We will handle requests as required by applicable law.

Retention and security

Newsletter signup records remain on the chosen list until they are removed. We keep information as needed to operate the publications and handle requests, subject to our service providers’ retention settings. Limited records may be retained when needed to honor opt-outs, address security issues or meet legal obligations.

We use access controls and service-provider safeguards to protect information. No method of storage or transmission can guarantee complete security.

External links and children

Source articles, social-sharing destinations and other linked services have their own privacy practices. This policy describes Hectare Brief’s publications, not those external sites.

Our publications are intended for growers and other adult readers, not children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
